Azziad Nasenya, the popular Tiktok queen from Kenya, has been nominated for an international award, the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.

As of Wednesday, NBC and E! announced the nominees and started voting for the 2021 People’s Choice Awards. There are 40 categories and a variety of entertainment forms across movies, television, and music.
There are only two musicians among eight influencers from the continent shortlisted for the category this year, which returns for the third time.
Boity Thulo from South Africa is the only musician on the list, along with Nigerian rapper Falz.

With 4 nominees in the ‘African Social Star’ category at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, South Africa is leading the pack with Lasizwe Dambuza, Mihlali Ndamase, Witney Ramabulana and Boity Thulo.
Similarly, Nigeria is represented by two nominees such as The Odditty and Rapper Falz.
Boity Thulo said, “This nomination is honestly a dream come true for me, I feel so honoured that my work is recognized on a platform of such magnitude, I am thankful from the bottom of my heart.”
As Falz said: “It is an honor and I am very excited that E! considered me for this award. As a person who views social media as a place to have fun, connect with people from all over the world, and most importantly, effect social change.”

Madam Boss said she was excited about the nomination, which came as a surprise: “I would like to express my genuine happiness for receiving this nomination. 2020 and 2021 have not been easy as the world over people have been dying due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All we wish for is life and a quick recovery to anyone affected.”
As the only nominee from East Africa, Azziad Nasenya was stunned to have been nominated for the ‘African Social Star’ category at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.

Justin Bieber leads 2021 People’s Choice Awards
Both Justin Bieber’s collaborations “Stay” with The Kid LAROI and “Peaches” featuring Giveon and Daniel Caesar were nominated in three categories: the song of 2021, the music video of 2021, and the collaboration song of 2021.
A recent music documentary about Justin Bieber, Justin Bieber: Our World, was nominated for pop special 2021 in the pop culture category.
Justin Bieber was also nominated for the male artist of 2021 and the album of 2021, both for Justice.
With six nominations, Lil Nas X places second in the music and pop culture category, followed by Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat with five nominations each.
On 7 December, the event will begin with the 2021 People’s Choice Awards Live from E channel at 2 am CAT, followed by the ceremony at 4 am CAT and a repeat on E! (DStv Channel 124) at 8 pm CAT on 8 December.
