De Blasio paints Black Lives Matter: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has ordered that the words “Black Lives Matter” be painted on the street outside the Trump Tower. The Democratic Party, which was one of President Trump’s worst critics, has now sparked a Twitter feud with a former resident of New York.

About the mural

The words will be painted in large yellow letters between Fifth Avenue, 56th Street and 57th Street in Manhattan. They lead up to the skyscraper Trump Tower, where Donald Trump once grew up to be a real estate tycoon and later called his home.

De Blasio’s rationality

A spokesman for Mayor de Blasio on Thursday explained the move: “The president is a disgrace to the values we hold in New York City. If he wants to step into what he calls his home town, he should remember the Black Lives Matter. He can not run or deny the truth that we face.”

But de Blasio is not the first mayor. Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C., was the first city leader to make the most of the roads.

Amid tensions with the president over the use of federal troops to break peaceful protests, Bowser coined the words “Black Lives Matter” painted on the street outside the White House. Similar street murals have already grown in American cities.

Trump’s answer to De Blasio

Trump took to Twitter to criticize De Blasiobelieving that Black Lives Matter paints would cause enmity between supporters and New York police.

He falsely claimed that the BLM demonstrators had called for the public execution of police officers. “Trump, in a blanket of pigs, fried ’em like bacon’ ‘is a Black Lives Matter mantra,’ ‘he said.

One of the president’s favourite Fox News pundits, Tucker Carlson, recently read a video where protesters shouted that slogan, but the video came from Minneapolis in 2015.

However, Trump hopes to heighten the distrust between the country’s police forces and members of the Black Lives Matter movement.
