Six eBay executives have been charged and two have been arrested for aggressively harassing bloggers in a revenge campaign.

Six executives of online auction site eBay have been accused of aggressively harassing bloggers (retaliating against two critics). They are now accused of launching a “comprehensive and disturbing harassment campaign” against a Massachusetts couple.
The married victims are the authors of an online newsletter criticizing eBay in 2019. There were months of follow-up and threats against them.
As of Monday evening, six eBay executives have been accused and two have been arrested for aggressively harassing bloggers in a revenge campaign.
eBay accused of harassing bloggers
Beginning in August 2019, a few executives on eBay aimed to intimidate the couple under the guidance of James Baugh and David Harvill. At the time, Baugh was the director of eBay’s global security and resilience, while Harvill was the director of global resilience.

After the couple made false criticisms on eBay, staff bombed the couple with threats using fake emails and social media accounts. But poaching and intimidation quickly intensified.
The revenge worker sent porn*graphy to a neighbour’s house and named it after the couple. They sent pizza to the couple’s house at 4:30 in the morning and even set up a garage sale at the couple’s home, advising visitors to enter the house if no one was outside.
The saddles soon became more and more troublesome. eBay officials began sending mailboxes to the home containing live cockroaches and spiders. Threats escalated when the couple received the book “Grief Diaries: Surviving the Loss of a Spouse.” On one occasion, eBay stalkers even sent a protective pig embryo to the couple, and it never came.
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrew Lelling has accused Baugh ‘s employees of wanting to “crush” newsletter writers. In a text message conversation received between Baugh and an unnamed employee, she writes about the victim, “If we’re ever going to get rid of her .. now is the time.”
Keeping criminals accountable
The Commonwealth has charged six eBay officials with conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and conspiracy to damage witnesses. The accused were:

- Stephanie Popp, eBay’s former senior manager of global intelligence
- Stephanie Stockwell, the former manager of eBay’s Global Intelligence Center
- Veronica Zea, a former eBay contractor who worked as an intelligence analyst in the Global Intel Center
Authorities have now arrested Baugh and Harville for leading the campaign. Meanwhile, eBay claims that six employees were fired last September when the coup first came to light.
eBay responds
“The agency has collaborated fully and extensively with law enforcement officials throughout this process,” the special committee said of the task of overseeing the investigation. “eBay does not tolerate this type of behavior,” the statement said.
The company “apologizes to the victims, and we are sorry that they were involved. eBay holds its employees to a high standard of conduct and ethics and takes appropriate action to ensure these standards are followed. “
