Ford recalls about 2.5 million vehicles due to defects in both the doors and the brakes.

For the third time in a few years, Ford recalls about 2.5 million vehicles due to defects in both the doors and the brakes. Read on to see if this recall affects you.
Defective door latch
2.1 million vehicles were recalled due to a defect, which causes the door latch to fail. This is not new to the automaker, who has twice called back vehicles for the same issue.
According to a report on Wednesday, the front door latch was recalled because if the vehicle got too hot, the Powell Spring tabs would break or not work. This issue is particularly dangerous in desert environments. Ford fears that some of the previously recalled vehicles are not properly repaired.
Usually, when a door latch is defective, the door of the vehicle is not closed. But sometimes the car doors are closed to reopen while the vehicle is in motion. This second phenomenon is very dangerous for obvious reasons.

This door latch is found in cars, SUVs and vans, but not in truck models. Ford has issued a warning to drivers of the following models:
- 2013-2015 Ford Escape
- 2013-2015 Ford C-Max
- 2012-2015 Ford Focus
- 2013-2014 Ford Fusion
- 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ
- 2015 Lincoln MKC
- 2015 Ford Mustang
- 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect
Owners of these models should look at their latch date codes. Once the car code is found, owners can check-in on the Ford website, which will tell them about the next steps.
Brake fluid leakage
Ford recalls another 344,000 F-150 pickup trucks to solve a problem with the brake master cylinder. In affected cases, fluid may leak from the master cylinder that controls the front brakes. The leak will greatly weaken them.
One possible consequence is the huge stopping distance, as the rear wheels of the car are pulled a few feet by the front wheels.
While this may seem insignificant when driving on the back roads or at slow speeds, if the brakes do not respond as expected or respond poorly, it can be dangerous on a freeway or congested urban street.

Ford has already reported seven accidents associated with the issue. Fortunately, these drivers moved at low speeds. Only two people were injured. However, the F Series trucks are Ford’s most popular model in the U.S., making the defect both a safety and a PR disaster.
The brake recall is related to the 3.5-litre turbocharged engines in the F-150s from 2014 to 2017.
Financial fallout
Following the bad news, Ford stock fell 6% on Wednesday. Recalling this measure is sure to put a ton of ground on Ford’s bottom line, especially at a time when vehicle buying is under a decade.
