Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior, professionally known as JR, and Thembi Seete have been announced as the newest judges for season 18 of Idols SA.



KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA (https://lifestyleuganda.com/) — A pair of South African artists, Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior and Thembi Seete were announced as the new judges for Idols SA season 18.
- Thembi Seete and JR join Somizi as judges on Idols SA season 18.
- ‘Idols SA’ will continue to be hosted by Tebogo Thekisho, aka ProVerb.
- The show will be directed and executive produced by Gavin Wratten and Anneke de Ridder.
Thembi Seete and JR will join acting and choreography veteran Somizi Mhlongo, who recently returned to Idols SA season 18 after a brief break from the music contest.
Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi’s contracts weren’t renewed, according to M-Net’s director of local entertainment channels Shirley Adonisiwere. Seete and Bogopa will replace them.
‘Idols SA’ will continue to be hosted by Tebogo Thekisho, better known as ProVerb, while Gavin Wratten will be the show’s director and executive producer, along with Anneke de Ridder.

Nomsa Philiso, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net, said they are excited to have Idols SA return for its 18th season.

Who is Thembi Seete?
In the 1990s, Thembi Seete entered the pop culture scene as a musician, actress and dancer.

She is known for continually reinventing herself as a performer and artist.
Her hit solo career and Boom Shaka youth led her to a successful venture into the small screen, where she stars in the telenovela Gomora for Mzansi Magic.
At Idols SA season 17, Thembi Seete was a guest judge who exhibited her bubbly energy, constructive criticism, and useful nuggets of advice to the contestants.

Who is JR Bogopa?
JR, born Tabure Thabo Bogopa Junior on 12 March 1987, is a South African businessman, creative entrepreneur, and musician.
Setswana and English are the preferred languages of rapper Bogopa, who raps mostly Motswako.
Two of JR’s Hip Hop songs have reached number one on the South African charts, as well as two of his Pop songs.
The “Show Dem” artist is the owner of a music publishing house, a record label, and a service for independent music distribution called FYVE, an app seen as Africa’s first mobile distribution app.
Who is Somizi Mhlongo?
Born 23 December 1972, Somizi Buyani Mhlongo-Motaung is a South African actor, media personality and choreographer. One of his most notable roles was in 1992’s Sarafina, a musical and political film.
He became the choreographer for many events and shows, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
In addition to starring in and choreographing ‘Sarafina’, Mhlongo appeared in several films such as Cry, the Beloved Country (1995) and in several television shows, such as Idols South Africa and V Entertainment.
