Together mode

“Together mode” is the latest in how participants view their meeting. This feature uses AI technology to separate your face and shoulders from your background and puts you in a shared virtual space with your colleagues. 

This way you can find your co-workers sitting in an auditorium space, in a hotel setting or around a boardroom table.

The auditorium system looks a bit childish but can be very helpful. This way, participants will not be distracted by anything behind their colleagues. 

Also, if you can see each person, it will be much easier to see who is speaking and who is distracted. After all, we get most of our information through body language when we communicate in person. 

Unfortunately, most of that transaction is lost through traditional video calls. But this system is trying to fix that problem, creating a virtual sense of unity in isolation.

The mode will be accessible to all users at some point in August. Once introduced, the auditorium display will be the only available option. But Microsoft says it will work to design more virtual space in the future.

Large meeting size

In an interesting move, Microsoft has announced that teams will soon be able to add 1,000 participants to meetings. Also, such meetings will allow up to 20,000 viewers to go live without participating. 

This can have a huge impact not only on large corporate activities but also on entertainment. People can attend big (virtual) events again.

Dynamic view 

Microsoft is launching a dynamic view that will allow people to share content with other participants. For example, two people doing a presentation can now have a screen share, while their videos appear next to a slideshow or document. 

At present, it is difficult to follow when you cannot see the presenters and presentations. This feature wants to solve that problem.

Direct encounter transcripts

In a few months, teams will also provide a live transcript of the meeting call. This feature can translate that transcript so that participants who do not speak the same language can follow through the subtitles. 

This feature is ideal for international business and cross-cultural collaborations.
