Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) has announced the nominees for the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards for 2021.
KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — A list of nominees has been announced for the 2021 NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious audience awards. The event will take place on June 20, 2021.

As a part of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference Live (NECLive) event, which is organized by ID Africa’s Netng news organization, the NET Honours awards were first introduced in 2013 to recognize deserving performers in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The awards became the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards in 2016, then went virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic, reaching over 10 million people worldwide.
The NETng and its affiliates, including Neusroom, 234Star and Orin, say the scheme is based on the engagement of over 8 million internet users on the company’s websites, social media channels, and email newsletters.

Simi, a singer from Nigeria, leads the nominations with six, followed by Wizkid, Davido, and Grammy winner Burna Boy, each with four nominations.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s awards will follow a digital format and recognize 100 achievers across 25 categories, including new categories for the most played Nigerian songs.
The NETng will announce the winners via their official website and social media channels, based on music released between June 2020 and May 2021.
