On Tuesday, 40 kilometres south of Kampala, the A330neo hit the Entebbe International Airport. This is the first aircraft of Airbus to have been delivered by Uganda Airlines, established in 2019.

The A330-800 is the latest addition to Airbus’ commercial aircraft product line, in line with the company’s strategy to deliver its customers an invincible economy, increased operational efficiency and better passenger comfort.

The A330neo is considered the ideal aircraft for the post-COVID-19 recovery thanks to its tailored, medium-sized capacity and its high versatility range.

The A330neo will assist the new airline in starting its long-haul operations by continuous flights to the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

Passengers will enjoy the unique experience of the Airbus’ cabin and exploring its complete comfort with 20 full-floor, business-class beds, 28 high-end seats and 210 low-cost seats, with a total of 258 seats.

The A330neo is a truly new generation aircraft that uses the technology developed for the A350, creating the features of the popular A330.

The first aircraft of the Uganda Airlines Airbus A330neo aircraft was received by the Minister of Works and Transport General Edward Katumba Wamala on Monday at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Toulouse, France.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Waiswa Bageya, signed the handover documents on behalf of the Ugandan government, while the Airbus vice president signed the contracts, administration and distribution, on behalf of the manufacturer.

Wamala and other Ugandan officials were on hand to inspect the 257-seater aircraft.

The flight from France to Uganda will be handled by Uganda Airlines Chief Pilot Captain Michael Etiang and team members who arrived for training in Toulouse.

Gen Katumba said the government has fully finalized the cost of the flight, which he says will provide Uganda Airlines with the operational benefit of providing direct flights to major cities around the world.

He said the first routes, which include Guangzhou and Beijing in China, London and Dubai, are already on the map.

Driven by the latest Rolls-Royce 7000 engines, the A330 Neo offers unprecedented levels of performance with a new division which includes more spacing and A350-inspired shorter cuts. This aircraft burns 25% less fuel per seat than previous generation competitors.

The cabin offers the convenience of new aerospace facilities, including sophisticated passenger aircraft entertainment and Wi-Fi connectivity systems.

Uganda Airlines launched in August 2019 with four Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft that have been flying into and out of the East African community.
