Apple Music just rolled out a cool new feature called Music Haptics, and it’s all about making music more engaging for everyone—including people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It uses your iPhone’s Taptic Engine to turn the sounds of a song into taps and vibrations that sync with the music.
It works with Apple Music, Apple Music Classical, Shazam, and some other apps as long as your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. Apple even added a whole section with playlists like Haptics Beats, Haptics Bass, and Haptics Hits, all built around this new feature.
To try it out, go to your iPhone’s Settings, tap Accessibility, and switch on Music Haptics. You’ll see a little icon on the Now Playing screen when you’re listening to a song that supports it, and you can tap it to turn the vibrations on or off.
Just a heads up, Music Haptics only works on iPhone 12 and newer models (except the iPhone SE 3rd gen) and you’ll need to be running iOS 18 or later.
