Former NTV Login presenter Robin Kisti, born Robinah Nambooze, has broken her silence following a stint behind bars — and revealed a surprising new direction: politics.
In a video shared by Sanyuka TV on TikTok, the media personality, who is currently pregnant, confirmed she is preparing to join the race for a parliamentary seat.
“There are many people fighting against me. I have such a big name that they create propaganda about me,” she said, accusing certain bloggers of spreading false information.
“Those who want to own the Robin Kisti name, it is okay. I’m back to my original names, Robinah Nambooze. My aspirations right now are to join the parliament.”
Kisti’s remarks come in the wake of her arrest, which saw her remanded to Luzira Prison for over a week. The charges, she clarified, were criminal trespass and assault — not drug-related, as had been widely speculated on social media.
Footage of her arrest made rounds online, showing the former TV host being dragged out of her residence by officers, dressed in a red bodycon dress, visibly distressed as she was ushered through a gate into a waiting van.
The images prompted a flurry of rumours linking her to cannabis possession, claims she has firmly denied. “That weed story was spread by bloggers who were paid to tarnish my name,” she said.
Now free, Kisti says she’s shifting her focus to public service, distancing herself from the gossip that has trailed her name and marking a new chapter under her birth name.
While she did not specify which constituency she intends to represent or the political party she plans to align with, her statement has sparked curiosity about how a former entertainment figure might fare in Uganda’s political landscape.
