MultiChoice Uganda has launched a nationwide sales campaign ahead of a restructuring of DStv subscriptions that will introduce four packages, with monthly prices ranging from Shs25,000 to Shs185,000.
The campaign, branded “Expect More for Less”, is intended to attract subscribers seeking more affordable entertainment options as the pay-TV company prepares to introduce its revised packages on November 5.
The new line-up comprises DStv Starter at Shs25,000, Select at Shs60,000, Sports at Shs100,000 and Ultimate at Shs185,000 per month.
The Sports package is a new addition to the subscription structure, giving viewers access to every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match without having to subscribe to the highest-priced option.
According to MultiChoice’s published package guide, Starter will offer more than 110 channels, while Select will provide more entertainment and children’s programming. Sports combines the Select offering with expanded live sports coverage, while Ultimate includes additional premium sporting events and entertainment.
New packages target different viewing preferences
The revised structure replaces the previous DStv Access, Family, Compact and Premium packages with four options designed around different household budgets and viewing interests.
Starter, the entry-level subscription, includes local productions, international entertainment and selected football matches.
Select offers additional movies, children’s channels and international programming. Sports includes all Premier League and Champions League fixtures, alongside other sporting competitions.
Ultimate, the highest-priced package, combines the lower-tier offerings with premium sports such as Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and golf.
MultiChoice Uganda Chief Executive Officer Hassan Saleh said the changes were informed by customer feedback and the need to provide greater value.
“We understand the economic realities many households are navigating today, and that is why we have reimagined our offering to ensure customers get even more value from DStv. Through the ‘Expect More for Less’ campaign, we are making quality entertainment more affordable while maintaining the breadth and quality of content our customers know and trust. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to putting customers first and ensuring they can continue enjoying great entertainment without stretching their budgets.”
Nationwide campaign to support rollout
The sales campaign will include regional roadshows, dealer engagements, community activations and consumer outreach programmes intended to explain the revised offerings and reach potential subscribers across Uganda.
The package changes will take effect on November 5, when existing subscribers will begin migrating to the new structure. MultiChoice says the migration will be implemented automatically, meaning customers will not need to request a change unless they prefer a different package.
The company has also outlined changes to its channel offering, including the introduction of SuperSport Swahili, a sports channel aimed at audiences in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
The revised structure forms part of a wider DStv package refresh across African markets under MultiChoice Group, which is now part of French media company CANAL+.
