Josephine Okui Okwakol Ossiya, a seasoned finance professional, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Uganda’s Capital Markets Authority (CMA), succeeding Keith Kalyegira. Ossiya brings to CMA a remarkable 27-year career in finance, management, and accounting, with specializations in financial analysis, cash flow, risk management, and compliance.
Currently serving as the Chief Finance Officer of Bujagali Energy Limited since November 2014, Ossiya has played a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the 250MW Bujagali Hydro Power Plant. She co-founded the private practice firm Rona & Partners in 2005 and has held significant positions at various organizations, including American Tower Corporation in Ghana, Eskom Uganda, and Shell Uganda Limited.
Ossiya has been actively involved in corporate governance, serving as a board member at Britam Holdings Limited and the Bank of Uganda. Her election as the first female president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in July 2023 reflects her leadership in the accounting profession.
An alumna of Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga, Ossiya holds a B.Com (Accounting) degree from Makerere University and an MBA (International Business) from the University of Liverpool. Her extensive experience and leadership roles make her a valuable addition to Uganda’s Capital Markets Authority.
