The search for the next Miss Uganda is officially underway, following a press launch held on Wednesday at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The competition, which will be broadcast exclusively on Makula KiKa via the StarTimes platform, is scheduled to air every Friday to Sunday from 27 June 2025 at 8:00PM EAT.
This year marks the first time that every stage of the competition will be televised, allowing viewers to follow the journey of contestants from start to finish.
Organisers say the pageant is more than a beauty contest. They describe it as a platform that promotes education, advocacy, and entrepreneurship among young Ugandan women.
In a shift from previous editions, all contestant activities will be held in the central region. Miss Uganda CEO Brenda Nanyonjo explained the decision was made to cut costs.
“We have been spending too much on regional tours, so this time, contestants will come to Kampala,” she said. “However, we are committed to supporting them with transport and accommodation.”
StarTimes, which began broadcasting the pageant in 2023, says the partnership has expanded the pageant’s reach.
“Miss Uganda pageant attracted new audiences and new sponsors which has added to the popularity of the event,” said the company’s Vice President of Marketing.
“We are happy to associate our brand with true Ugandan beauty.”
Applicants must be Ugandan citizens, aged 18 to 25, and born and raised in the region they aim to represent. The organisers say all information will be verified by their team.
Contestants must also be unmarried, not engaged or pregnant, and have no criminal record. They are expected to be in good health, with strong communication skills and a commitment to integrity, poise, and national values.
The current title holder, Natasha Nyonyozi, was at the launch. She displayed her recent award—Beauty with a Purpose Africa—which she received at the 2025 Miss World competition in India.
Registration forms are available online and at selected physical centres.
