Ugandan hip hop heavyweight Navio has announced plans to headline a one-night-only orchestra concert this October, marking a new chapter in a career spanning more than two decades.
The rapper and producer, real name Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the news, telling fans: “Back by Popular Demand! After the unforgettable 20-years celebration concert, I am answering the call from my fans! This year, NAVIO will be Live in an Orchestra CONCERT — a night of music, class, and timeless hits.”
The concert is scheduled for 4 October 2025 at Kampala’s Serena Hotel, a venue known more for its elegance than hip hop energy — a clear signal that Navio is aiming for a blend of sophistication and nostalgia.
It will be Navio’s first major live performance since 2023, when he headlined a show at Sheraton Hotel Kampala, celebrating a career that helped shape the Ugandan rap scene.
The announcement adds to what is shaping up to be a big year for Ugandan hip hop. Fellow rapper Feffe Bussi recently revealed his own plans to stage what could be Uganda’s first large-scale hip hop concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, promising a landmark moment for the genre.
For Navio, this orchestra concert is more than just a show — it’s a statement. A fusion of classical arrangements and African hip hop, staged in one of the capital’s most prestigious venues, signals that the “Njogereza” rapper is once again ready to raise the bar.
