Ugandan musician and model Nina Roz has unveiled her official campaign posters as she enters the political arena, confirming her bid to contest for the Sembabule Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections.
Known offstage as Nina Kankunda, the 32-year-old artist shared her campaign materials on Friday via social media platforms X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. The posters prominently feature her image in red—the signature colour of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP)—alongside that of party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, better known as Bobi Wine.
Her announcement marks a significant milestone after months of hinting at political ambitions, including a return to school to pursue further education in preparation for public service.
Nina Roz officially joined the NUP in December 2024 at a ceremony held at the party’s headquarters. Speaking at the event, Mr Kyagulanyi encouraged more artists to step into politics, saying the creative sector had a vital role to play in shaping Uganda’s future.
“Different professions have played their part in transforming this country,” he said. “Now, it is time for musicians to lend their voices to the cause.”

Nina Roz has echoed this sentiment in recent public statements, urging fellow creatives to take part in national affairs.
“I genuinely think that all fans would want to see their favourite musicians joining the political struggle,” she said. “It’s a way of giving back—showing that we’re with them in trying to address their problems.”
While her campaign has generated excitement among fans and party loyalists, political observers remain cautious. Critics say it remains to be seen whether her popularity in the entertainment world will translate into political success.
The race in Sembabule is expected to draw national attention, particularly as the incumbent MP Mary Begumisa of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) seeks re-election. Mrs Begumisa was elected to represent the district in the 2021 general elections.
With Uganda’s next elections just under a year away, Nina Roz joins a growing list of celebrities turning to politics, raising questions about how star power, policy, and popularity will intersect at the ballot box.
