British R&B singer Craig David has been announced as the headline act for the second edition of the World of Sounds concert series, set for 29 August 2025 at the Sheraton Hotel Gardens in Kampala.
It will be his first-ever performance in Uganda.
The organisers are calling it the R&B Edition, promising an evening of live music, immersive art and cultural expression.
David is best known for early 2000s hits like 7 Days, Walking Away, Fill Me In, and Rise & Fall, his 2003 collaboration with Sting. His work helped define the UK garage and R&B scenes and earned him international recognition.
With more than 15 million records sold, BRIT and Grammy nominations, and a catalogue spanning over two decades, his upcoming performance is being billed as one of the biggest musical events of the year.
“This year’s show is expected to attract music lovers from across the region for a magical night under the stars,” said the concert’s producer, Washington.
“World of Sounds Season 2: R&B Edition is not just a concert—it’s a celebration of rhythm, soul, and artistic fusion,” he added.
David’s appearance marks a shift from last year’s inaugural World of Sounds, which focused more heavily on afro-jazz and fusion. Held at the Kampala Serena Hotel in October 2023, that show featured performances by Myko Ouma, Jose Sax, Sewa Sewa, Kenneth Mugabi, Joel Sebunjo, A Pass, and Maurice Kirya. Juliana Kanyomozi also made a surprise appearance for a duet performance.
Season 2 builds on that debut by introducing an international headliner, while still featuring a curated mix of Uganda’s live performers and instrumentalists.
The World of Sounds series, according to its organisers, is focused on showcasing alternative music genres and promoting collaboration between local and international artists.

Craig David rose to fame in 1999 with his feature on Re-Rewind by UK garage duo Artful Dodger. His debut album, Born to Do It, came out the following year and went on to become a commercial and critical success.
Since then, he has released eight studio albums, including Slicker Than Your Average (2002), Following My Intuition (2016), and 22 (2022). His ninth album, Commitment, is scheduled for release in August—just weeks before the Kampala show.
Over the years, David has collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Tiwa Savage to Tinchy Stryder, JoJo, Big Narstie and Sting.
