Apple Music has launched The King’s Music Room, a special program celebrating music from Commonwealth nations, personally selected by King Charles III. The show debuted on Apple Music 1 on March 10 at 6 a.m. U.K. time, with additional broadcasts on Monday and Tuesday.
Recorded in King Charles III’s office at Buckingham Palace, The King’s Music Room offers a rare look into his connection with music across different eras and genres. The playlist spans from 1930s crooners to Afrobeats stars, disco legends, and reggae icons.
The program reflects the King’s personal tastes and global experiences. In the show’s trailer, released to mark Commonwealth Day, he shares stories about some of the featured artists and explains how these songs have shaped his life.
Speaking about music’s impact, King Charles III said:
“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others. It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and to take us to distant places. But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy.”
So, who made it onto the King’s playlist?
According to Apple Music, the selection blends legendary names like Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, and Grace Jones with modern stars such as Davido and RAYE.
This comes as Davido gears up for his fifth studio album, 5ive, originally set for a March release but now postponed until after Ramadan.

Apple Music’s global head of Content and Editorial, Rachel Newman, highlighted the significance of the project:
“Human curation has always been a key pillar of our unique editorial approach. Apple Music Radio is where culture is happening worldwide, and we are honored that King Charles III chose to share his personal playlist with us, and with music fans around the world.”
The King’s Music Room is now streaming on Apple Music 1, with additional free broadcasts on Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Hits on Monday and Tuesday.
