Brigadier-General Charles Oluka, the head of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has passed away.
Oluka, who took over the agency in 2020 after Col Frank Bagyenda’s controversial tenure, had reportedly been dealing with heart issues for some time.
Military sources, including Deputy Defence spokesperson Col Deo Akiiki, confirmed his death. Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda also shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating that Oluka died at Doctor’s Hospital Sseguku along Entebbe Road, where he had been taken earlier in the evening.
Last year, Oluka traveled abroad for a medical review, accompanied by his wife and personal doctor.
On Wednesday, after a full day at the office, he went home for prayers but suddenly collapsed.
