Chinese automaker Jetour Group has entered Uganda’s car market, rolling out two sport utility vehicles — the DASHING and the X70 Plus — at a high-profile launch on Friday at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
The brand is being introduced by Al Mamoun East Africa, Jetour’s exclusive distributor in Uganda. Company officials said the move is aimed at giving motorists here modern, affordable, and dependable SUVs. They also disclosed that another model, the Jetour T2, will arrive before the end of 2025.

Moses Kaggwa, acting director at the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, told the gathering that the government sees the launch as part of a broader effort to industrialize the economy.
“We welcome Jetour to Uganda and assure you of our support,” Kaggwa said. “Beyond permits and roads, you will find Ugandans eager to work — to sell your cars, run workshops, distribute spare parts, and provide after-sales service. We will continue to improve infrastructure, simplify policies, and ensure investments like yours create opportunities for our people.”
Zein Abdelmutaal, chief operating officer of Jetour Uganda, sought to assure buyers that the brand’s entry would be backed by strong service and availability of parts.
“Owning and maintaining a Jetour in Uganda will be easy,” he said. “We are investing heavily in after-sales support and local capacity to ensure a seamless ownership experience.”
Sales manager Richard Bamujje argued that Jetour’s arrival fills a longstanding gap. “Uganda’s automotive sector has for years lacked variety and dependable solutions,” he said. “With Jetour, we are offering vehicles that combine quality, efficiency, and value — for individuals and corporate fleet managers alike.”
The launch featured the unveiling of two models. The Jetour DASHING, a compact SUV geared toward urban buyers, is priced from Shs115 million. The larger X70 Plus, built for comfort and long-distance travel, starts at Shs110 million. Both are marketed as affordable, fuel-efficient, and equipped with modern safety features.
The Jetour T2, designed with off-road capabilities, is expected to follow later this year.
Jetour, founded in 2018 under Chery Holding Group, has been expanding fast in global markets. In Europe, Chinese auto brands doubled their market share to 5.1 percent in the first half of 2025, reflecting the wider push of Chinese automakers worldwide.

In Uganda, Jetour will run a showroom and service center in Namanve to handle sales, parts, and maintenance.
The evening ended with a performance twist: musician Sheebah Karungi arrived in the Jetour T2, offering guests a first glimpse of the model expected to reach Ugandan roads next year.
