On Sunday evening (March 6 2022), the family announced the tragic news that DJ Dimplez had died from a brain haemorrhage.
“He passed away March 6, from a sudden brain haemorrhage. We ask for your space and respect as we process Tumi’s tragic passing. Thank you for your understanding.”
After losing Riky Rick only six days ago, the South African entertainment industry has suffered yet another blow by the passing of DJ Dimplez, another one of its own.
The DJ was the founder of the Pop Bottles event series, a celebration of culture that brought celebs from across Mzansi and the globe under one roof at one huge party.
He also pioneered the PopCast podcast.
Among DJ Dimplez’s hit songs are We Ain’t Leaving, on which he features Anatii and L-Tido, and Way Up, on which he features Cassper Nyovest and JR.
He released an album in 2019 titled Kubu.
In his role as a contributor in the industry, the DJ helped establish that South African entertainment offered a space for hip hop DJs. He played at clubs and festivals, and his music appeared on most music charts.
On Friday, DJ Dimplez posted a picture of himself at the memorial service of the late rapper, Riky Rick.
