The African super app, ayoba, was launched in Uganda last year (2020). It is the first instant messaging app that provides its users with the privilege of digitally sending cash while chatting, allowing them to seamlessly transact without having to pause their conversations.
Ayoba users will be able to send MTN Mobile Money for free in-app for a limited time and enjoy all the unique and exciting features of the ‘SuperApp’ including chat, voice and video calling, content sharing, music and playlists, and games.
Introducing the ‘Life inside ayoba’ campaign, Olivier Prentout, the Head of Customer Marketing for Ayoba, noted that the app would appeal to many consumers since it provides digital solutions to daily life needs in a practical manner that is affordable.
“We took a look at what the African user base is looking for, and developed ‘Life inside Ayoba’, an innovative and textured campaign. As we launch the campaign,” said Prentout, “we are excited to have the full support of MTN.”
He also noted that the app has been praised for its unique and exciting practicality, as it offers the user everything they need in a single app that works on both Android and iOS devices.
Ayoba recorded 8 million monthly active users across the MTN Group in July 2021 with 400,000 active users in Uganda. Recently, Ayoba won the Best OTT Brand of the Year award at the Marketing World Awards 2021.
This win follows ayoba’s Best Mobile App win at the Africa Digital Award in November 2020.
