In a move that’s got the local media scene buzzing, Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda has officially announced Flavia Tumusiime as its new Head of Broadcasting. The news was confirmed through a formal company statement and later echoed by Flavia herself on X (formerly Twitter).
If you’ve followed Uganda’s media space even casually, then Flavia’s name needs no introduction. She’s been in the game for over 22 years—starting from her teens on the Teens Club show on WBS TV, then going on to leave her mark on Capital FM, NTV Uganda, and several other platforms across Africa. From Uganda to Kenya, Ghana to South Africa, she’s built a reputation as a powerhouse in radio, television, and digital media.
NMG says her appointment is part of a bigger plan to future-proof their broadcast division. “We’re excited to welcome Flavia Tumusiime as the new Head of Broadcasting at Nation Media Group Uganda,” the company shared. “She brings deep expertise in content strategy, audience engagement, and digital transformation—skills that align perfectly with our vision for the future.”
And honestly, they’re not wrong. Whether she’s on your radio every morning or lighting up your screen with the evening news, Flavia has always had a way of connecting with people. She knows how to tell stories that matter, and that passion for impactful storytelling is exactly what NMG says they’re looking to harness as they evolve in today’s fast-changing media landscape.
This appointment is also a big moment for Flavia, personally and professionally. She steps into a role previously held by Johnson Omollo and before him, Agnes Konde (2013–2017). She’ll now be overseeing NMG’s flagship stations—KFM and Dembe FM—as well as NTV Uganda and Spark TV.

Beyond the newsroom, Flavia wears many hats. She’s an actress, emcee, author (30 Days of Flavia), voice-over artist, media consultant, and a familiar face and voice to many Ugandans. She also played the lead role of Kamali Tenywa in Beneath the Lies, a TV drama series that ran from 2014 to 2016.
Off the screen, she’s married to Andrew Kabuura, who heads sports broadcasting at Next Media—yes, the rival camp. The two are proud parents of three kids, including a set of twins, proving that their household is full of love, laughter, and likely, a lot of sports and media debates.
With her deep industry knowledge, unmatched versatility, and a loyal fanbase that’s watched her grow over the years, Flavia’s appointment feels like a natural next chapter—not just for her, but for Ugandan broadcasting as a whole.
