Trace Awards 2025: Full List of Winners Announced in Zanzibar

Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz claimed Best Global African Artist.

The 2025 Trace Awards winners were announced in Zanzibar on February 26, celebrating the biggest names in African music. This year’s event highlighted the continent’s growing global impact, with Afrobeats, amapiano, and other African sounds taking center stage.

South African duo Titom & Yuppe won Song of the Year with Tshwala Bam, a track that became a worldwide dance anthem. Rema continued his dominance, taking both Album of the Year for Heis and Best Male Artist, proving his influence in the industry.

Ivorians Tam Sir & Team Paiya won Best Collaboration for Coup du Marteau, a high-energy hit with sharp production. Meji Alabi took Best Music Video for his bold direction in Rema’s DND.

Makhadzi secured Best Dancer for her electrifying stage performances, while Algerian DJ Moh Green was named Best DJ. Diamond Platnumz won Best Global African Artist, and Ivorian rapper Didi B took Best Hip Hop Artist with his sharp lyrics and commanding flow.

Tyla claimed Best Female Artist, a recognition of her originality and growing international presence. Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel Artist for her powerful and uplifting music.

Regional winners included Josey (Best French-Speaking Artist), Ayra Starr (Best West African Artist), and Tyler ICU (Best Southern African Artist). Bien was named Best East African Artist, Chelsea Dinorath won Best Portuguese-Speaking Artist, and Nandy was recognized as Best Tanzanian Artist.
