Traci Braxton, a singer, actress, and reality TV star, has died at age 50. Her family has said that Braxton died of cancer of the esophagus.
KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA (https://lifestyleuganda.com/) — Traci Braxton, the sister of singing star Toni Braxton and star of the hit reality television series “Braxton Family Values,” died after battling esophageal cancer, her family said.
“We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatments for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory,” her husband Kevin Surratt shared with NBC News.

According to her publicist, Tomasina Perkins-Washington, Braxton was surrounded by family and friends when she passed. She also spent the last year of her life in hospice, Perkins-Washington added.
“When I heard the news about my mother being sick, the first thing she said was I’m going to fight and beat this,” her son, Kevin Surratt Jr., said in an Instagram post on Saturday. “She fought to the end and today she’s at peace.”
“I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore,” he added. “I love you ma I’m going to miss you.”
On Instagram, Toni Braxton, a Grammy-winning artist, paid tribute to her sister.
“Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling. Our angel is now a snowflake,” she said Saturday. “We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life.”

Traci Braxton, born in 1971, rose to fame from her films such as “Sinners Wanted” and “Chaaw” as well as her stage play “There’s a Stranger in My House.”
Among her most notable TV appearances was her presence on the family’s reality show “Braxton Family Values” along with siblings Toni, Towanda, Trina, Tamar and Michael.
Additionally, she recorded the hit song “Last Call” in 2014, which peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Broken Things” four years later, which she recorded with her sisters, Toni, Towanda, and Trina.
Her website indicates that in addition to performing and entertaining, Traci Braxton has worked for many years as a social worker for children with disabilities.
Throughout her career, she supported charities and nonprofit organizations that helped women and children facing health and societal challenges.
