The family of the late Saad Byakuleka — better known across Uganda’s entertainment and sports circles as Saad Shots — has confirmed funeral arrangements following his sudden death in a motorbike accident.
Saad, whose lens captured some of Uganda’s most vibrant moments in music, sport, and wildlife, died on Friday 18th April 2025 after a collision involving two motorcycles along Entebbe Road, near Bugonga Junction. The incident has been confirmed by Uganda Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire.
“Yes, it is true. Two motorcycles were involved in a fatal accident at Bugonga Junction near the air base. Efforts are underway to have their bodies taken to Mulago City Mortuary,” Owoyesigyire said.
Tragically, both riders are reported to have died on the spot.
The news sent shockwaves through Uganda’s creative and digital community. Social media was quickly flooded with tributes to Saad, remembered not only for his sharp eye and storytelling through images but also for his humility and warmth behind the camera.

The family has since confirmed that Saad’s body will leave the mortuary on Saturday 19th April at 9:00 AM for Kazo. Burial is set to take place the following day — Sunday 20th April — at 12:00 PM in Kiruhura District, Kazo-Kitongore.
The send-off will mark a final chapter in the life of a photographer whose work spoke louder than words — a visual chronicler of Uganda’s cultural heartbeat, now gone too soon.
