According to the scheduled timetable, the examinations for both high school and primary school will be held from March 01 to May 03, 2021.
Students appearing for the Primary Leave Examination (PLE) will be scheduled to appear for the exam on March 26, 2021, and begin exams from March 30 to 31, 2021, while those sitting for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) will be briefed on February 26 and start exams on March 1 till April 6, 2021.
“Candidates for the Uganda Certificate of Advanced Education (UACE) will be briefed on April 6 and exams will be held between April 12 and May 3,” UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo told a news conference at the Uganda Media Center on Friday.
Odongo stressed that this year’s theme has been modified to emphasize the health and safety of learners. ”The theme will be ‘Integrity and security in the management of examinations; the health and safety of learners is a joint responsibility,” he said.
“The credibility of the examination body rests on the authenticity of the procedures, processes and practices under which the examinations have been conducted. This calls for utmost integrity, the quality of being honest, on the part of those involved at the various levels and the enhancement of security in all aspects of examination management” he said.
Meanwhile, earlier this week the exam committee also released a draft set of guidelines for schools to follow, awaiting reopening for those in the half-candidate classes next month.
The ministry said the strategy was to guide schools on how to deal with the problem of catching the most practically lost time.
Among other activities, the ministry noted that nursery teaching will resume when teachers are vaccinated against COVID-19.
However, they recalled that the final guidelines would be issued on February 23 after being considered by scientists and the Ministry of Health in response to COVID-19 SOPs.
