Mango, a tropical fruit grown all over Asia, has long been one of the most popular fruits for American eating habits simply because of its benefits. Mangoes are loaded with protein, fiber, potassium, vitamins A, C and E as well as many other nutrients that are beneficial to human health.

And yet despite their healthy benefits, mangoes are somewhat of a mystery fruit to the average consumer.

They come packaged as a dessert fruit in a large glass of orange juice or sweetened by a spoonful of honey with no indication of the healthy goodness beneath.

In this article, we will look at some of the more interesting mango benefits.

Mango benefits to the body range from strengthening the immune system to improving cardiovascular health. Because mangoes are high in fiber, this fruit helps to lower the risk of colon cancer, gallbladder disease, and other digestive problems.

Although they are high in fat, mangoes provide some pretty impressive fiber benefits as well, which can help people lose weight.

However, getting more of Vitamin A or C into your diet through mangoes is likely to be limited to eatables that are already sweetened with fruit juice like apple juice or pomegranate juice.

Like many fruits, mangoes contain a significant amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants can prevent free radical damage and even repair some of the damage that has already occurred. Antioxidants also reduce the risk of cancer and help keep arteries clean and flexible.

Although many people mistakenly believe that antioxidants are found in vegetables, they are actually present in many fruits and vegetables.

One added benefit of mangoes is that they contain more antioxidants per mango than any other fruit.

Because they are small, mangoes are often used to cover large portions of vegetables, unlike other fruits which are heavy and messy. They can easily fit into any portion of a meal and are great for snacks throughout the day.

While other fruits might require a knife to remove, mangoes can easily be pulled apart and mixed into a smooth soup or dip. They are also good in tropical salads because their spiny surface makes it easy to get into clumps and blend into the other ingredients of salads.

Combining mangoes with other fresh fruits is a great way to add a variety of bright, colorful flavors to an otherwise bland salad.

Because mangoes are so high in fiber, they help improve digestion and maintain regular and healthy intestinal functions. They also increase the efficiency with which our bodies use energy and the amount of energy we take in. Because of their high water content, they help moisten and soften foods which are consumed during digestion.

The fiber in mangoes also helps slow down the absorption of carbohydrates, which helps us stay fuller longer between meals. Combining this valuable substance with other natural fiber sources such as broccoli or spinach can help improve our diets and our digestion.

In addition to helping improve digestion, mangoes are rich in antioxidants. The large number of antioxidants found in mangoes is what sets them apart from other fruits. They help eliminate free radicals and other toxins in our bodies, resulting in healthier and more disease-free bodies.

There are a number of different mango varieties, but the best tasting mango is the Golden mango. It is the largest of all mango varieties and has the most fiber. Because of its high fiber content, the nutrients found in this fruit are not wasted.

Mangoes are also known to be beneficial for digestion problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer. They have been proven to help normalize cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

And, like most fruits, mangos contain lots of antioxidants.

Because of their high fiber content and the water content that can add to their flavor, mangoes are often combined with other fruits for the purposes of improving digestion and helping lower the glycemic index.

Adding ripe mangoes to a blend of other fruits can improve the taste of blended mangoes, making them a great health-food alternative to sugary desserts. Or, top mangoes with some blueberries or strawberries for an easy dessert treat!
