Equity Group Holdings, one of East Africa’s largest financial institutions, has once again been named a Superbrand, marking the fourth time it has received the distinction.
The recognition, awarded by Superbrands East Africa—a global arbiter of brand excellence—underscores Equity’s continued influence in the region’s banking sector. It is now the only bank in Kenya to have received the honour four times.
The Superbrands programme identifies and celebrates brands that have demonstrated exceptional quality, reliability, and distinction. Now in its ninth volume in East Africa, the selection process involves independent consumer research and evaluation by a panel of marketing and branding professionals.

Dr. James Mwangi, Equity Group’s Managing Director and CEO, welcomed the accolade, saying it reflected the enduring trust of customers and the dedication of the Group’s employees.
“We are deeply honoured to be recognised once again as a Superbrand. This accolade reinforces our commitment to delivering inclusive financial solutions that transform lives and create lasting wealth across the region,” he said.
Equity’s achievement was praised by Superbrands East Africa Project Director Jawad Jaffer, who cited the Group’s focus on innovation and purpose-driven banking as central to its success.
“Equity has consistently demonstrated exceptional brand strength. Their ability to combine financial expertise with a community-focused ethos sets them apart in today’s competitive market,” said Mr Jaffer.
The recognition comes as Equity continues to grow its footprint across six countries—Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. With the right to use the Superbrands Award Seal, the Group gains further validation in a region where trust and brand integrity remain key to customer loyalty.
The award adds to a string of recent accolades. At the 20th Think Business Banking Awards 2025, Equity emerged as a leading performer, collecting 16 awards, including top honours in SME Banking, Mortgage Financing, Financial Literacy, and Sustainable CSR.
Participation in the Superbrands programme is by invitation only, extended to brands that demonstrate exceptional performance and recognition within their industry.
