MTN Uganda will disburse Shs134.3 billion in dividends to shareholders for the fiscal year ending December 2023, based on the company’s financial report. The dividend payout is scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2023, and will be electronically transferred to shareholders’ bank accounts or mobile money wallets.
Charles Mbire, the board chairman of MTN Uganda, is set to receive Shs5 billion from the dividend distribution.
According to MTN Uganda’s unaudited financial results, the company experienced a 21.1 percent increase in profit after tax during the third quarter, reaching Shs354.4 billion compared to Shs292 billion in 2022.
The Board of Directors approved the declaration of the second interim dividend on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Adhering to the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) Listing Rules 2021, key dates related to the dividend payment include the Book Closure Date on Friday, December 1, 2023.
In accordance with the USE Trading Rules 2021, the ex-dividend date is set for Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Investors purchasing MTN Uganda shares before this date will be eligible for the interim dividend, while those acquiring shares after November 28, 2023, will not qualify for the declared dividend.
MTN Uganda, in its unaudited financial results for the third quarter, announced the approval of a second interim dividend of Shs6.0 per share (Shs134.334 billion) for the quarter ending September 30, 2023. This amount is subject to withholding taxes, and the total number of ordinary shares in circulation at the declaration date is 22,389,044,239.
