Singer Rebecca Kukiriza, better known as Chosen Becky, is officially engaged.
On August 5, 2025, the “Bankuza” singer was surprised with a marriage proposal by photographer Abdul Khadir Ssekajja in a ceremony attended by close friends and associates.
The proposal, which took place at a private outdoor venue, was organised with the help of Maria’s Bridals on Luwum Street. Becky was reportedly told she was heading to a bridal photo shoot. She arrived dressed in an elegant white gown, styled by the bridal team — unaware of what was waiting.
When she got there, she found Ssekajja down on one knee.
She broke into tears. Then, in front of friends and cameras, she embraced him.
In a message during the proposal, Ssekajja reportedly promised her: “You’ll never cry again.”

The couple has kept their relationship mostly private, but speaking to local media afterward, Becky opened up.
She described how they first met during a difficult time in her life — following her split from her former partner, Dictator Amir, earlier this year.
“I was overlooking myself, but he gave me the reason to believe in myself again,” she said.
According to Becky, Ssekajja began offering emotional support when she needed it most. “When I faced life challenges, he chipped in on my life with counselling sessions and helped me stay mentally stable.”
She also claimed that his path into photography had a personal motivation.
“When he figured out a reason that would melt my heart, he opted to join photography and started taking cute photos of me, so that I would accept him. That way, he won my heart.”
The relationship eventually deepened into something more serious. Becky credited him with helping her manage the pressures of single motherhood.
“People have been wondering why I’ve been glowing,” she said. “But he carried all the burdens I’ve been facing — including providing for what to feed my children at home.”
She recalled a period when they hadn’t yet met in person — but every Sunday, food supplies would show up at her door. “A bag of sugar, rice, and chicken would be delivered at home,” she said. “He made everything that was stressing me seem light.”

In an interview with Sanyuka TV, Becky said she felt it was time to make the relationship public. She also revealed that the engagement ring — reportedly purchased for Shs20 million from the U.K. — came engraved with the words: “Will you marry me, Rebecca?”
“He is from a wealthy family,” she said. “There is a lot of money here.”
No date has been announced for the wedding.
