Ian Rumanyika, a well-known figure in Uganda’s public relations and corporate communications space, has announced his resignation from Uganda Baati Ltd, where he has served as Head of External and Corporate Affairs. His last day will be June 30, 2025.
Uganda Baati is part of the Safal Group, a major supplier of building solutions with operations in more than 10 African countries.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on June 23, Rumanyika said he was stepping down after “three fulfilling years and two months.”
“As we wait for 1st July. After three fulfilling years and two months, I will resign as Head of External and Corporate Affairs at Uganda Baati Ltd, effective June 30, 2025,” he wrote.
He called it an “honour” to have led Uganda Baati’s strategic communications, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement during what he described as a period of growth and transformation.
“I’m proud of the milestones and impact we have achieved as a team,” Rumanyika said.
In his statement, he thanked the leadership of Uganda Baati and its parent company, the Safal Group, along with partners across government and industry.
“I am grateful to the leadership of Uganda Baati and the Safal Group, and to partners especially the Media, Ministry of Finance, URA, UMA, PSFU, EABC, and the Uganda Iron and Steel Association for your unwavering support.”
During his time at Uganda Baati, Rumanyika helped shape the company’s voice in national policy conversations and strengthened partnerships across both the public and private sectors. Colleagues credit him with elevating the company’s profile in Uganda’s manufacturing industry.

Looking ahead, Rumanyika signaled that his next chapter will continue to focus on public affairs and partnerships.
He is no stranger to Uganda’s communications landscape. Before joining Uganda Baati, he spent more than a decade at Uganda Revenue Authority, rising to Manager of Public and Corporate Affairs.
An award-winning PR practitioner, Rumanyika has been recognized among the Top 40 Under 40 by Vision Group in 2019 and ranked number 23 on the Top 100 Global PR Influencers list by Commentric International. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a postgraduate diploma in public relations from CIPR-UK.
