Ugandan model and environmentalist Nalongo Judith Heard is making waves beyond the catwalks. She just kicked off the “50 Million Trees for Africa” campaign through her foundation, Judith Heard Foundation (JHF). The goal? To spark eco-awareness in youth across Africa.
Recently, at Kasangati High School in Gayaza, Judith planted signature trees to kickstart the campaign. She chatted with students about the importance of preserving nature and tackling climate change. Her dream? Every child actively involved in saving the environment, creating a sustainable future.
After school, Judith headed to Kasangati Town Council, checking on trees she planted a year ago. Publicist Muhumuza Brian says Judith is on a mission. She wants to team up with leaders, organizations, and the public to turn the “50 Million Trees for Africa” vision into reality by 2050.
The JHF campaign aims to cultivate green leaders, tackling deforestation and climate change from the grassroots. Workshops in schools, tree planting with communities, and tech tracking of tree growth are in the mix. Judith wants to make environmental sustainability a core part of students’ learning.
Exciting news – Judith is set to be honored at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards in Los Angeles on March 6, 2024. Alongside influential figures like Livia Firth and Zendaya, Judith’s contributions in driving climate and social action stand out. Hollywood’s GCFA Awards will showcase her as an inspiration, spreading hope and empowerment through her impactful work.
