The royal family of Busoga, in eastern Uganda, is celebrating the arrival of twin boys.
Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV and Queen Jovia Mutesi announced on Aug. 27 that they had welcomed their first children together — Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope.
“With profound joy and heartfelt gratitude, I am delighted to formally announce the birth of our twin sons: Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope,” the 36-year-old king wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

He added: “The arrival of the newborns marks a deeply cherished milestone in our family’s journey, and we are overwhelmed and humbled by the magnitude of this double blessing. Both newborns, along with their remarkable mother, are in high spirits and excellent health.”
The post included photos of the boys with their mother, who, the king said, is doing well.
The news quickly spread across Busoga, a kingdom in eastern Uganda with millions of Basoga people. In local culture, the birth of twins carries special meaning — seen as a sign of abundance, favor and continuity.

Gabula became Kyabazinga in 2014 and has often been described as a unifying figure. His marriage to Mutesi in November 2023, in a ceremony held at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe, drew nationwide attention.
For many in the region, the birth of the princes is more than a family announcement. It’s a historic moment for the monarchy and a source of pride. Thanksgiving prayers and community celebrations are expected in the days ahead.
