Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Tems and Zuchu are nominated for the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs), which will be held on Sunday, 13 November, 2022 in Düsseldorf, western Germany.
KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA (http://lifestyleuganda.com/) — MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) 2022 are scheduled for Sunday, 13 November 2022 in Düsseldorf, western Germany, with Nigerian music stars including Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Tems and Tanzania’s Zuchu nominated.
The African acts nominated for the 2022 MTV EMAs include Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Tems from Nigeria, Black Sherif from Ghana, Musa Keys from South Africa, and Zuchu from Tanzania.
Over the past year, all of the African artists nominated for the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards have achieved tremendous success.
One of Ayra Starr’s many musical projects this year was her collaboration with legendary R&B artist Kelly Rowland on “Bloody Samaritan,” and Burna Boy has also been busy, performing at dozens of concerts and performing internationally, as well as releasing the critically acclaimed album Love, Damini.
Tems, who is 27 years old and hails from Nigeria, has also been working hard in her career, being featured on Future’s “Wait For You,” alongside Drake, but also shining in the spotlight with her track “Free Mind.”
Black Sherif, from Ghana, is not one to be left out. His unique sound forms the core of his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, and his inclusion in YouTube’s Foundry Class of 2022 has further elevated his status.
In this year’s South African Music Awards, Musa Keys won the Song Of The Year award for “Selema (Po Po),” a collaboration that explored the depths of Amapiano.
As one of East Africa’s top female artists, Zuchu has been making a mark on the music scene as well. Her many hits, including “Fire,” a record of hers released earlier this year, are proof of this.
The 2022 MTV EMA nominations came only days after Burna Boy and Tems were shortlisted for the 2022 American Music Awards. The MTV EMAs will be held on November 13, 2022, in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the PSD Bank Dome.
