KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — A global music publishing service called One Publishing has been launched by ONErpm, an online distribution service and fan engagement platform created by Emmanuel Zunz and Matthew Olim in 2010.
The news of ‘One Publishing’ follows ONErpm’s recent opening of offices in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa in conjunction with the promotion of Osagie Osarenz to the role of director of African operations.
In about 30 markets worldwide, ONErpm distributes music for independent artists and labels. A new publishing arm will make it easy and transparent for songwriters and copyright owners to manage catalogs and collect publishing royalties worldwide.
Artists and labels who receive ONErpm’s premium distribution service, as well as DIY distributors, are eligible for the service.
ONErpm’s founder and CEO Emmanuel Zunz will oversee One Publishing, which will be led by Diego Maldonado, a former Colombia Records executive.
According to the platform, it has been working on publishing for three years, developing the infrastructure to register, identify, and administer compositions in accordance with international standards.
In the US, ONErpm has partnered with BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC, along with regional partners such as UBC, SACM, and Unison.
As for DSPs, ONErpm has agreements with Apple, Deezer, Spotify, YouTube, Lyricfind and MusixMatch.
