The award-winning Kenyan Boy band, Sauti Sol along with Sol Generation, their record label and TV producer Eugene Mbugua, have brought their fans to the Sol Family Season 2 with new members.
On Monday Sauti Sol’s Sol Generation launched Season 2 of the Sol Family reality show at the Social House in Nairobi in collaboration with renowned filmmaker Eugene Mbugua.
Season 2 Episode 1 opens a new chapter for the entire Sol family, as Sauti prepares to welcome a new member of the Sol family, Bensoul faces tragedy in his first performance, and Nviiri seeks a new musical identity.
The Sol Family, which premiered in August 2020, takes fans behind the scenes to the lives of four members of the Sauti Sol band, Bien, Savara, Chimano and Polycarp, as well as their Sol Generation Proteas Nviiri the Storyteller and Bensoul.
The Sol Family was hailed by fans as an instant hit with its comedy (and memes) and for providing an intimate and authentic look at the life of Africa’s largest band and topped the list of most-watched shows on the Showmax platform for weeks.
Sharing his excitement about the upcoming new season, producer Eugene Mbugua described the season as a huge success, among the Sol generation fans who thought they should get to know the stars better.
“We have a fantastic season lined up, which has been filming since July last year. We’ll see the couple in more depth on the show. We’ll take you behind the scenes to see what happens when Sauti Sol, Nviiri and Bensoul hit the stage.” Eugene said during Season 2 launch.
Although one of their biggest challenges was shooting during COVID-19, Mbugua reveals that things were much easier this season after some restrictions were removed.
As such, Sauti Sol and Sol Generation will also be followed by the audience for an out of town experience while showing in Meru, Diani and Lamu.
Season 2 will dive deep into their magic; DOPE (discipline, order, passion and excellence) and how they apply this principle in their daily lives, personal relationships, businesses and musical strength.
The show will air exclusively on Showmax.
