Sheilah Gashumba and MC Kats were seen together in public on Wednesday evening, weeks after an online exchange drew attention to tensions between the two media personalities.
The pair, who share a long history both on and off screen, were spotted at The Fem Effect Season 3 event held at Noni Vie, Lugogo in Kampala. The sighting has fuelled speculation of a possible reconciliation—though it’s not the first time the two have been seen patching things up after a public disagreement.
In early April, Gashumba, 29, appeared on Kasuku Live and openly criticised Uganda’s TV industry, saying she left her television job due to poor pay. She also urged veteran presenters to step aside to allow younger talent to thrive—pointedly naming MC Kats, whose real name is Edwin Katamba.
“There are people who I still see on TV that shouldn’t be on TV. Time is up,” she said.
“You have to leave room for other people… My friend MC Kats shouldn’t be on set anymore.”
Katamba responded with sharp words of his own. In a public statement, he accused Gashumba of misleading young women and glamorising a lifestyle he believes lacks substance and responsibility.
“Sheilah has misled many girls of this generation who consider her their role model,” he said.
“We’re in an era where people are selling false hope.”
Despite the tense exchange, Wednesday’s encounter appeared markedly different. A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) shows the two sharing a light moment—chatting and holding hands in the presence of friends. Neither has publicly addressed the reunion.

The Fem Effect, organised by Fem Deejay, made a return this year following a brief hiatus. Powered by Don Julio, the night celebrated music and urban culture, drawing a vibrant crowd to Noni Vie.
The lineup featured a mix of local and international talent, including South Africa’s Tyler ICU, Mun G, Ava Peace, DJ Roja, Selector Jay, DJ Slick Stuart, and DJ Spinny. Evelyn MC, Sir Aludah, Viana Indi, and Top Boy MC were also among those who took to the stage.
