Audio Streaming Service Spotify Launches in Uganda, Subscription Prices Here

Spotify, a Swedish audio streaming and media service provider, has finally launched in Uganda.

Spotify, a Swedish audio streaming and media service provider launched in Uganda, is available for Android and iOS users.

This comes a few years after other apps like Apple Music and Tidal became available on some major streaming sites.

On Wednesday 2021, Lifestyle Uganda announced that this expansion will include markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Combined, these markets have more than a billion people. With these launches, Spotify says, “Sounds and stories that were once local will reach an audience of fans worldwide in nearly 180 markets.”

As part of its current commitment to creating a truly endless audio ecosystem – combining creators, listeners and content – this move marks the company’s broader market expansion to date.

Spotify subscription price in Uganda

UGX costs 10,000, 13,000, 16,000 and 5,000 for Spotify offers like Individual, Duo, Family and Student subscriptions, respectively.

The student subscription offer is only available to students at an accredited higher education institution. Users who have already tried the premium do not get 1 month free.

The Spotify app is available for Android and iOS users.

The news of the launch of Spotify in Uganda comes at a time when TuneCore, a distribution service, has also started operations in Uganda.

TuneCore has appointed Johannesburg-based Jade Leaf as its Southern African Tunecore chief and will share responsibility for key countries in East Africa with Lagos’ Chioma Onuchukwu, who has been appointed TuneCore chief for West Africa.

The territory of the Jade leaf includes South Africa, the country where she resides, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Lesotho. She will also manage TuneCore operations in the East African countries of Kenya and Uganda.

Previously, she worked as a marketing manager for youth and music channels at Multichoice, Africa’s largest pay-TV operator, where she headed the brand re-imagining and marketing efforts for music television company Channel O.
