Talkio Mobile, one of Uganda’s newer players in the telecom space, is making a big move to get closer to customers—literally.
Through a new partnership with Interswitch’s Quickteller Agent Network, Talkio Mobile users can now access services at more than 20,000 agent locations across the country. For a company still building its name, that kind of reach is no small feat.
“We are excited to partner with Interswitch, a leader in digital payment solutions, to bring Talkio Mobile’s services closer to our customers,” said Vianne Allan Ahura, CEO of Talkio Mobile.
Right now, customers can top up airtime and data at these agent points. But that’s just the start. Talkio says it’s working to roll out SIM card purchases and mobile money services at those same locations “in the coming months.”
“This collaboration not only expands our reach through Quickteller’s extensive agent network,” Ahura added, “but also strengthens our ability to offer secure, convenient, and innovative payment solutions.”
For Talkio, the partnership is about scale. For Interswitch, it’s about relevance in a fast-changing mobile-first economy.
“This partnership with Talkio Mobile underscores our commitment to empowering businesses and communities through innovative and inclusive financial solutions,” said Moris Seguya, Interswitch Uganda’s country general manager.
He described the move as a way to “create more touchpoints for Ugandans to access essential telecom services,” while building on Interswitch’s own payments backbone.

Beyond the agent network, Talkio also plans to lean on Interswitch’s digital payments platform to power card transactions, mobile money, and other electronic payments. It’s part of a wider effort to strengthen Talkio’s self-service tools—and to simplify how people pay for its services.
The rollout hints at a broader ambition: to blur the line between telecom and fintech in a country where both are tightly intertwined. It’s also a reflection of growing competition in Uganda’s mobile space, where convenience, not just price, is becoming a major differentiator.
The companies didn’t offer a timeline for when additional services will go live, but said more details are on the way.
For now, Talkio customers can expect easier access, fewer hurdles, and one less reason to look elsewhere.
