The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) confirmed that it will release the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) next week. The announcement follows the board securing an appointment with the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.
UNEB is set to brief Minister Janet Museveni on the PLE results for 2023 on January 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at State House Nakasero. The actual release of the results is scheduled for January 25, 2024, at the same location and time.
Those attending the briefing on PLE results for 2023 have been instructed to undergo a COVID-19 test on January 23, 2024, at Mulago Platinum Centre from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Earlier this week, UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule informed reporters that the examinations board had requested an appointment with Minister Janet Museveni before releasing the results. The purpose is to brief the Minister on learner performance.
Following the release of results, the Senior One selection exercise will begin. This process, which determines school placements based on cut-off points, typically takes place at UMA.
In 2023, a total of 749,347 pupils, comprising 391,558 females and 357,789 males, took the PLE.
