Ugandan musician Bebe Cool has confirmed that his long-awaited new album Break The Chains will be released on Friday, 30 May 2025.
The singer, born Moses Ssali, made the announcement during a TikTok Live session on Friday, where he spoke directly with fans and some of Uganda’s leading TikTok content creators. He later echoed the news to his 256,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), describing the album as “a defining moment” in his career.
“The long wait is finally coming to an end,” Bebe Cool wrote. “Break The Chains marks a defining moment in my career as an artist. I am venturing into evolving sound, blending my signature style with fresh Afrobeats influences and raw storytelling.”
The album has been in the works for nearly two years, and marks a significant evolution in Bebe Cool’s music, incorporating Afrobeats elements alongside his familiar sound.
Fans have already had a taste of the new direction through singles Circumference and Motivation, both of which suggest a striking departure from his earlier work. Motivation, directed by Garrick Williams, has been particularly well received, racking up over 500,000 YouTube views since its release on 21 February.

Speaking during the TikTok session, Bebe Cool explained that the shift in sound was a conscious decision to keep pace with the growing influence of Afrobeats across Africa.
“Break The Chains is about cracking the glass ceiling to take Ugandan music to the table most local artists believe we are not welcome,” he said.
The album sees Bebe Cool working with a new generation of producers and collaborators, including rising Ugandan star Joshua Baraka. He hopes the project will inspire younger artists to move beyond familiar musical formulas.
“Uganda has always missed out because artists who could have led the way are either too comfortable or too afraid to sail into the unknown,” he added.
Break The Chains follows Go Mama (2015), an album that earned Bebe Cool several nominations at continental award ceremonies, including the MTV Africa Music Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards and the Kora Awards.
One of Go Mama’s standout tracks, Love You Everyday, remains Bebe Cool’s most streamed song on Spotify, with over 5.5 million streams, and 14.9 million views on YouTube.
Bebe Cool has promised to reveal more details about the upcoming album in the coming weeks. Break The Chains will be available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Boomplay and YouTube Music.
