Award-winning Ugandan rapper Mun G is set to stage a concert in August, marking a major return to the stage after nearly a decade.
The artist, born Mungi Emmanuel Matovu, confirmed the date via Instagram, revealing that the show—dubbed Mun G Live in the Champions Ball—will take place on 30 August 2025 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
It will be Mun G’s first major concert since 2015, when he held his debut headline show. Plans to celebrate a decade in music in 2020 were shelved due to what he described as unforeseen challenges.
The rapper rose to national prominence in 2009 with his hit Ebintu, having started out as a hype man for fellow rapper GNL Zamba. A graduate of Makerere University with a degree in Computer Science, Mun G went on to build a reputation for sharp wordplay, wit, and a distinctive blend of music and humour.

Over the years, he has released a number of popular tracks including Kankuganye, Igwe, Bintwala, Ssejusa, and Kyaba Too Good, the latter of which featured in a national campaign by telecom firm Airtel.
While further details about the concert are yet to be released, the announcement drew enthusiastic reactions from fellow artists and fans alike. Singer Bruno K wrote “Les go,” while comedian Sesa Bat called it “a must attend.”
Mun G, who often infuses comedy into his lyrics, has previously described himself as both a rapper and entertainer. The upcoming show will mark a milestone in a career that has spanned more than 15 years and influenced Uganda’s hip-hop scene.
