Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has confirmed that he is now married to fellow artist Zuchu, following months of speculation about their relationship.
The 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma, shared a series of photos on his official Instagram account on Sunday, appearing to show scenes from a private Nikah ceremony — a traditional Islamic wedding rite.
The images, which depict the couple dressed in white traditional attire, were accompanied by a reflective caption, in which Diamond spoke about personal growth, silence in the face of criticism, and the importance of patience.
“Among the things I have learnt is the maturity of staying quiet… especially when people are spreading falsehoods,” he wrote. “You know the truth, but you choose to remain silent.”
The post took a surprising turn when he confirmed, for the first time publicly, that he is a married man.
“I know each of you has a completely different picture about Diamond Platnumz and marriage, but I just want to tell you today that Diamond Platnumz has ever been married, and there is a day I will tell you how it went,” he added, suggesting the wedding took place some time ago.
While no formal statement was released by the couple, Zuchu — born Zuhura Othman Soud — is seen in circulating videos referring to Diamond as her husband. In one widely shared clip, she is heard saying, “mme wangu (my husband), we are married.”
Zuchu’s mother, celebrated Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, also appeared to acknowledge the marriage by posting a congratulatory video, while Diamond’s mother, Sandra Dangote, confirmed the ceremony with an Instagram post reading, “Alhamdulillah, limepita salama. Congratulations my son Naseeb Kihwa and your wife Zuhura.”
The Nikah ceremony is a key element of Islamic marriages, requiring the presence of a guardian for the bride, two witnesses, and the giving of a Mahr or dowry. It remains unclear exactly when or where the ceremony took place.
Diamond Platnumz, founder of the WCB Wasafi label, had previously stated in interviews that he intended to marry before the start of Ramadan in 2025. While that plan did not materialise at the time, the recent developments suggest the union may have taken place quietly, away from the public eye.
The couple’s relationship has long been the subject of media speculation, fuelled by musical collaborations and joint public appearances. Their decision to go public — however subtly — marks a new chapter in the high-profile romance that has captured the attention of fans across East Africa and beyond.
