Singer Dax Vibez, born Ivan Bugembe Ssentamu, has shifted his debut solo concert to the UMA Show Grounds after Hotel Africana cancelled his booking without explanation.
The concert, which was originally set for August 29 at Hotel Africana, will now take place at the new venue on the same date.
“Same date, better location, new generation tugenda ku UMA,” Dax posted on X (formerly Twitter) on July 2, alongside an updated promotional poster.
The decision to relocate comes after what Dax described as a surprise cancellation by the hotel, with no formal communication from the management.
Appearing on NBS TV’s After5, the singer said he was told the hotel’s owning family intervened to stop the event.
“I wasn’t given any official explanation,” he said. “But from the WhatsApp audios I heard, it seems like a personal decision from the family behind the hotel.”
He added that someone close to the matter told him the family felt he “doesn’t deserve” to hold his concert there — a comment that left him both stunned and hurt.
Still, Dax says he’s not letting the change derail his plans. Instead, he’s rebranded the show as an All White Party, encouraging fans to dress in white for the event.
Ticket prices remain unchanged — UGX 20,000 for ordinary access and UGX 50,000 for VIP.
“This is still my moment,” Dax said. “We’re not stopping.”
Dax Vibez is known for his Afro-pop sound and collaborations with some of Uganda’s top artists. His music often blends catchy rhythms with messages about unity and social issues. He is also the younger brother of Bobi Wine, a musician and political leader.
In 2024, Dax saw chart success with tracks like Tabbu (featuring Ava Peace) and Believe (with Vinka). His other songs include Good Idea with Elijah Kitaka, At My Door, Ku Sure with Azawi, and Vibe Kyekyo.
With a new venue and a message of resilience, Dax says he’s focused on making his first solo concert a celebration — not just of music, but of perseverance.
