As Uganda prepares to co-host one of the continent’s biggest football tournaments for the first time, MultiChoice Uganda says it’s making sure no fan is left behind.
Beginning Friday, August 2, all 32 matches of the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) will be broadcast live on SuperSport. Viewers will be able to follow every game from anywhere in the country — whether in Kisoro or Arua, Busia or Hoima — through DStv and GOtv.
The tournament will run through to August 30.
“CHAN 2024 is a monumental occasion for Ugandan sport,” said Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda. “As first-time hosts of a major continental football tournament, it is important that every Ugandan gets the opportunity to witness this live.”
Coverage will be available on DStv from the Access package up to Premium, and on GOtv from Plus to Supa Plus. All games will be aired on SuperSport Africa 1 — DStv Channel 227 and GOtv Channel 363. Matches will also be available on DStv Stream and GOtv Stream.
Jamugisa said the company is focused on making CHAN widely accessible — and affordable.
“As your premium sports destination, we are committed to bringing you every Cranes goal as we rally behind them,” he said. “The team needs all the support it can get to bring the trophy home.”
Uganda’s campaign begins Monday, August 4, at 8 p.m. local time, when the Cranes face Algeria at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole. Algeria is a two-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champion, but both countries are still chasing their first CHAN title.
The tournament kicks off a few days earlier in Dar es Salaam, with co-host Tanzania taking on Burkina Faso on August 2 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. The following day, August 3, sees Kenya host DR Congo in Nairobi — a clash between East African Community members. Also in Nairobi, CHAN 2018 champions Morocco take on Angola.

The third-place playoff will take place in Kampala on August 29, while the final will be held at Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi on Saturday, August 30.
For fans without existing subscriptions, a weekly package is being promoted — Ka Weekie — starting at Ugx 15,000 on DStv and Ugx 24,000 on GOtv.
