Justin Bieber is competing with a song called Peaches (featuring Daniel Caesar & Giveon) and also “Stay” by him and The Kid LaRoi.
Additionally, Ed Sheeran (Bad Habits), Olivia Rodrigo (drivers license), Adele (Easy on Me), Doja Cat featuring SZA’ (Kiss Me More), Silk Sonic (Leave the Door Open), Dua Lipa (Levitating), Lil Nas X’ (Montero, Call Me by Your Name) and Ariana Grande (positions) were nominated for 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards for song of the year.
Both Adele and Sheeran will be the first two-time winners in this category of the show in its nine-year history if they are chosen at the top of the show in March.
In 2016, Adele won the iHeartRadio Music Awards ‘song of the year’ honor with “Hello”, and Sheeran won two years later with “Shape of You”.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards 2022, a two-hour live show, will air on Fox on March 22 (8-10 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed) from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
For the first time in the show’s history, it will be staged at the Shrine after its first two appearances in 2014 and 2015. It will also be the third time the show has aired on Fox in the last four years.
In 2020, when the show was delayed from its March time slot to September due to the pandemic, it was held virtually and televised instead.
Also this year, the show will air on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide and on the iHeartRadio app. The show will feature two new categories – TikTok songwriter of the year and best comeback album.
Adele’s 30 is nominated in the latter category, along with Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Foo Fighters’ Medicine at Midnight, Lorde’s Solar Power, Kacey Musgraves’ Star-Crossed, Bleachers’ Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, and ABBA’s Voyage.
This year’s awards will be decided by fan voting for the following categories: best fan army, best lyrics, best cover song, best music video, social star award, favorite tour photographer, TikTok bop of the year and the following exciting new categories: TikTok songwriter of the year and best comeback album.
iHeartRadio.com/awards or Twitter are two ways for fans to cast their votes. Voting begins on Thursday (Jan. 27) and closes on March 15 at 11:59 p.m.
Fans can vote by following the appropriate hashtags and visiting iHeartRadio.com/awards.
