Kampala will join the global celebration of World Music Day on June 21 with a free public concert at the Sheraton Hotel. The event, part of the annual Fête de la Musique tradition that began in France in 1982, invites people of all backgrounds to take part in live music performances—no matter the setting or the budget.
The show will start at 4 p.m. and feature a mix of Ugandan and international artists. Among them: Ykee Benda, Zex Bilangi Langi, and Ebrahim Soul’o. Also scheduled to perform are Blac Queen, Andereya Baguma, Professor Joewi, and Black Wave Sounds.
Organizers say the event is designed to welcome everyone, regardless of age or income. “The idea is to democratise access to music,” said a representative from Alliance Française de Kampala, one of the main organizers. “We want to reach the largest possible audience.”
Admission is free.

The mood on stage will be guided by Adele Kiele, who is expected to bring high energy to the venue. As the official hype woman, she will be responsible for keeping the crowd engaged and the transitions lively.
The event is backed by Total Energies, the French Embassy in Uganda, and Alliance Française de Kampala. It is one of several World Music Day celebrations held across cities worldwide, staying true to its original mission: to bring people together through sound.
As the date approaches, organizers are urging Kampala’s residents to turn out—whether long-time fans of live music or just curious passersby.
