Dr. Herbert Luswata is the newly elected President of the Uganda Medical Association (UMA), succeeding from his previous role as the association’s Secretary General. Dr. Luswata secured 287 votes, defeating Dr. Othiniel Musana, who received 253 votes in a closely contested election conducted both online and physically at Silver Springs Bugolobi on November 12.
Dr. Frank Asiimwe, the current President of the Association of Surgeons of Uganda, will serve as the Deputy President alongside Dr. Luswata. The medical community is optimistic about the leadership duo’s potential to bring stability and renewed focus to the UMA.
