Music Artist Wizkid Is Nominated for the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Award

‘Brown Skin Girl’, featuring Nigerian Afrobeat star Wizkid, has been nominated in the Best Musical Moment category of the 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards. The ceremony will air live from the Palladium in Los Angeles on May 16 and 17.

KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — Brown Skin Girl by Beyoncé and Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has been nominated for a Best Musical Moment award at 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards, which will air live from the Palladium in Los Angeles on 16 and 17 May.

Best Musical Moment is one of two public-voted categories, along with Best Music Documentary, at the 29th edition of the awards which recognize outstanding achievement in film and television.

The film was nominated along with eight other films, including Lost in the Wild, Stand by Me, Beginning Middle End, I Wanna Rock, Edge of Great, Julie and the Phantoms, and Agatha All Along.

In 2019, Beyoncé released ‘Brown Skin Girl’ followed by a video for it from her 2020 visual album Black Is King.

This project has won numerous honours since its release, including a BET Award, the NAACP Image Award and the Grammy for Best Music Video.

The 2021 MTV Movie and TV Awards will be hosted by US comedians Leslie Jones and Nikki Glaser.

As for the TV category, WandaVision is the front-runner with five nominations, followed by Emily in Paris, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and The Boys with three each.

With three nominations, Borat: The Subsequent Movie came in second place, followed by Judas and the Black Messiah, which was nominated twice.

In the public categories, fans can vote for their favourite nominees via Instagram.
