Saad Byakuleka, popularly known as Saad Shots, has died following a motorbike accident in Kampala. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, 18 April 2025.
The celebrated photographer was widely respected for his work across Uganda’s entertainment, wildlife, and sports sectors. News of his passing was confirmed by friends and colleagues on social media.
“He was knocked by a boda boda rider. Saad was riding his newly acquired bike,” wrote close friend Kanyesigye Edwin on X, formerly Twitter.

Known for his quiet demeanour and sharp visual storytelling, Saad Shots collaborated with both local and international brands. His work had earned him recognition as one of the most promising photographers of his generation.
Just a day before the accident, Saad posted on his X account: “Quick reminder, tomorrow can happen without you.!” The post, now widely shared, has been described as haunting in the wake of his death.

Away from photography, he had a passion for motorbikes and travel, often sharing glimpses of both on his social media platforms.
Tributes have poured in online, particularly on X, where he maintained a large following.
“It’s with deep sorrow that I announce the saddest death of our brother @saadShots, who was involved in an accident that claimed his promising young life,” wrote Gideon Nova Kwikiriza. “I don’t even know what to say.”
Journalist Gabriel Buule described him as “a young man with brighter dreams. Rest well.”
An outpouring of grief has continued throughout the day, with many remembering Saad Shots not only for his artistic talent but also for his humility and kindness.
